Course Goals:
AP/IB Biology is a fast-paced, rigorous course that will prepare the student for both the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate High Level exams. This course is a college-level course and as such will be taught with appropriate academic rigor. A student’s success in this course is determined both by academic ability and by the effort of the student both in and outside of class. It is imperative that students review material daily and read the corresponding chapters in the text as we proceed through the curriculum. Extra help will be available after school and evening review sessions will be held later in the year prior to the examinations. This is a two-credit course, but the state of South Carolina will only allow one credit to be weighted as an advanced placement course. The first semester grade is weighted as an honors course (Honors Biology 3) and the second semester (AP/IB Biology) grade will receive the AP weighting.
