What to Expect:
- AP/IB Biology is a college level course and is taught with appropriate academic rigor.
- Students are expected to study daily and take responsibility for learning.
- Students are expected to learn facts, to be able to analyze material, and to make logical inferences.
- Students are tested on these skills. Tests are NOT based on factual recall.
- The laboratory assignments and analysis are integral components of both the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate curricula.
- Expect students to find the class challenging.
- Material is covered quickly. The pacing of the course is critical in order to complete all of the material as dictated by the College Board and IBO.
- Help is always available.
What can a parent do?
- Encourage daily attendance and study.
- Ask your teen about school.
- Keep up with his/her grades
- Help him/her develop a regular time to study without interruption
- Help him/her get appropriate rest and eat nutritionally.
- Attend open house
- Call me or email with any questions/concerns

What can a student do?
- Listen, reflect, and take notes in class.
- Review material that was covered in class on a daily basis.
- Read the textbook corresponding to the material in class.
- Complete all assignments on time.
- Ask questions/get help.
- Contribute to the lab group.
- Keep all materials organized in a notebook.
- DON'T GET BEHIND.
